China University of Geosciences was founded in 1952. Its predecessor was Beijing Institute of Geosciences, which was formed by merging the geological departments (disciplines) of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Tangshan Railway University and other universities. In 1987, the National Education Commission approved the establishment of China University of Geosciences. China University of Geosciences is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a university approved by the state to set up a graduate school, a national "211 Project" and a national "double first-class" construction university. China University of Geosciences is located at the side of Wuhan East Lake and looks south at the foot of the mountain. The school is characterized by earth science, covering science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law, education, art and other disciplines. Two first-class disciplines, geology, geological resources and geological engineering, have been selected as the "double first-class" construction discipline. There are 11 academicians of the CAS Member, 310 doctoral supervisors, 520 professors and 927 associate professors. The university has 86 scientific research institutions, laboratories, research institutes (institutes, centers), including 2 national key laboratories. At present, there are 2 national first level key disciplines, 16 Hubei provincial key disciplines, and two first level disciplines, "Geology" and "Geological Resources and Geological Engineering", rank first in all previous national discipline evaluations; There are 23 colleges (institutes) and 65 undergraduate majors; There are 16 first level discipline doctoral programs, 34 first level discipline master programs, and 15 post doctoral research mobile stations. In the past five years, the year-end employment rate of graduates has exceeded 96%, the graduate guarantee rate has exceeded 19%, and the rate of going abroad for further education has exceeded 45%.
